Pro Player Insiders

The first visible example of our partnership is the cross-posting of our weekly feature, “Mafia Monday.” Mafia Monday was a very popular feature last year, where we interview a selected member of the FAMbase. This is an interactive element where members of our community can get to know each other and build unity by becoming a little transparent.

Week 12′s Mafia Monday interview is one of the first fans to get on board with the #BillsMafia movement last summer, Nick Primerano (aka @RealNickPrim on Twitter).

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
I’d have to say my whole life. I don’t remember ever not donning the red white and blue. My earliest memory is when my grandfather gave me my first Bills jersey. A Rawlings Jim Kelly jersey about 40 sizes too big. I still wear it from time to time.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
I was raised as a small child to be a Bills fan. I hate to say it but the wide right call is stuck in my head as a first memory. Sorry.

Week 9′s Mafia Monday interview is Matt Barden, aka @usmcstealthfire.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
I was born and raised in the Buffalo area and into a Bills family — My father is the oldest of six brothers and one sister…I can tell you most, if not all of their kids are still die hard Bills fans. My earliest memories date back to family gatherings every Sunday at Grandma’s house. These gatherings would often begin with pregame Uncle disputes about players and coaches, what’s going right/wrong with the Bills…you know, most of the stuff we discuss in the Bills Mafia on Twitter.

Week 8′s Mafia “Monday” interview is @MeaghanMcCarthy.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
I’ve never NOT been a Bills fan, but as a kid the last thing I wanted to do was sit still and watch sports! So funny how it has changed. Even though I wasn’t a diehard from the time I was young, my Mom really influenced me and I remember Flutie Flakes more than anything. I think my earliest memory, though it’s vague, is our last playoff game. I remember not understanding how we had lost, and my step-dad smashing our flower plants (IT’S NOT THEIR FAULT, poor flowers, haha). Yes, I was in 1st grade the last time we were in the playoffs. I was born in ’92 a few days before the Super Bowl and yet I still bleed blue, red, and white.

Week 6′s Mafia “Monday” interview (sorry we’re late) is @BillsMafiaDon, who actually has blogged for BillsMafia.com in the past.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
I’ve been a Bills fan as long as I can remember. My mother has always been a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills, so she was able to brainwash me at a young age to be a Bills fan as well. It didn’t really take much effort for her though. I fell in love the very first time she brought me to the Ralph (Rich Stadium). I’ve been fortunate enough to get to witness many Bills games in person over the years, despite not actually living in the area. Having family in the Buffalo area however has helped quite a bit. One of my earliest memories as a Bills fan is the first time I ever hear the Buffalo crowd chant “BRUUUUUCE” in person. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. Still do.

Week 5′s Mafia Monday interview is Phil Brady, aka @The_Philster on Twitter.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
Since 1993… Growing up, I wasn’t into football really… kinda liked the Bears because of the Fridge, Payton, McMahon, and Singletary but I didn’t know the game that well nor did I watch more than a few. In 1993, when I was about ship off for the Air Force, a friend had me over to his place a few days prior to spend the day watching football. As we watched the Eagles-Jets and Chiefs-Raiders games, he told me about the Bills, the history, the personalities of guys like Tasker, Thomas, and Talley and I was wearing a Kirby Jackson jersey by the time the Bills faced off against the Giants on SNF. Following the Bills kept me connected to home.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
As long as I can remember I have been a Bills fan, I think being from WNY, we are all bred to bleed the Red, White and Blue. My dad has always been a diehard fan and thus I was as well. I received the Starter pull-over Bills jacket from Santa, or so I thought, when I was 8 years old! Greatest present I had received — or at least that year! Earliest Memory for me would have to be the Music City Miracle… I remember driving in the car with my step mom listening to the game on the radio and running inside to my dad all excited that we had won… to find out we had lost by the time I was back inside.

Week 3′s Mafia Monday interview is @doll__28.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
I have been a Buffalo Bills fan since literally before i can remember. My father is a HUGE bills fan, so of course having a child even though i was a girl, all my outfits were Buffalo Bills. Funny part now is when its my turn to buy him outfits, their now ALL Buffalo Bills. My earliest memory has to be sitting next to my dad watching the games, and he would scream at the top of his lungs at the TV. I remember thinking they could hear him, so I would yell when he would leave the room to make sure they kept hearing someone telling them to run.

My first Bills game is so hard to remember, I was maybe 4 or 5 years old and my dad and uncles took me. It was a super cold game so i remember everything being wrapped up on me except my eyes, and my dad had to carry me because the layers were so much I couldn’t even move my little legs. I do however remember it was against Miami, and I kept saying squish the fish, and I remember seeing my first touchdown live ever. I was so young but those little memories are more memorable.

Damond Talbot, aka @drocksthaparty

Damond Talbot, aka @drocksthaparty

Preseason Week 4′s Mafia Monday interview is Damond Talbot, aka @drocksthaparty on Twitter.

Damond was raised in little Salamanca, New York where he played high school football and had over 15 scholarships to play college football before breaking his back his senior year. He is now employed as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer in Florida where he still reps his Red, White and Blue. Damond has been working on building an organization like the #BillsMafia in Florida called #Heat-Peat. He has the word Heat-Peat trademarked and is hoping to do something for the kids with all the proceeds. You can visit the site at www.heat-peat.com; Damond is also known on the web for his articles he posts for www.nfldraftzone.com. Damond scouts the historical black colleges and universities and has created quite a following with the #BillsMafia. On Twitter he is always finding a way to do contests where he gives away Bills Autographs and Memorabilia, so be sure to follow him.

How long have you been a Bills Fan, and what’s your earliest Bills memory?
Growing up, I remember sitting on the couch watching the Bills/Giants Super Bowl with my family and cheering against the Bills, because that was the only thing that would make my older brother mad. My older brother use to beat me up, when we were littler. It was good to see him cry after they lost, but by the third Super Bowl I began feeling bad for my brother. I saw how passionate he was for the team and the game, it him so upset when they lost. I was always a Emmitt Smith fan, but that fourth Super Bowl, I was pulling for the Bills. I was born in 82, so that is really the earliest memory I can remember when it comes to the Bills. I will never forget that butt whooping, I took when I was laughing at my brother for Scott Norwood’s missed field goal, OUCH. That butt whooping is what made me the fan I am today, GO BILLS.
