Buffalo FAMbase Teams Up With GuessForGood.com

You may have notice some posts through our social media channels about a fundraising “game” we’ve teamed up with Guess For Good on. I’ve asked Guess For Good’s founder, Joel Peterson (a fellow Bills fan), to give a brief overview of what the heck this is all about. Once you’ve got an idea, head over to our sponsored game to benefit PUNT Foundation and check it out! –Del

What is Guess For Good?

Guess for Good brings a fun twist to crowdfunding as it is the first “game-based” crowdfunding platform. Guess for Good raises money for good causes through games and prizes. The experience of Guess for Good blends the fun of playing a game, the hope of winning a prize, and the gratification of helping a good cause.

You can find us on the web at guessforgood.com.

Guess for Good is excited to team up with Buffalo FAMbase and offer games to benefit local good causes based our beloved team.

How does it work?

A Guess for Good game consists of three key ingredients:

1. The Question
2. The Prizes
3. The Beneficiary (The Good Cause)

1. The Question

The game is easy to understand and fun to play. A question is asked and participants can submit their guesses. The question is formatted as a “How many of something” or “How long will something take.” This way the submitted guesses can be ranked in order based on the correct answer. So for example a question might be “How many jellybeans are there in this jar?”. The person that guesses closest to the actual number of jellybeans comes in first place. In addition all guesses can be ordered from first to last based on how well they did.

2. The Prizes

The prizes can help draw attention to the game. Each game handles prizes differently. Prizes are handled in one of three ways:

– Sponsored – Prizes that have been donated by a sponsor and are available to win no matter how much (or how little) money is raised.

– Activated at a certain amount – Prizes that are available to win once a certain amount of money has been raised. Prizes will appear in a locked state until that amount is raised. Once the specified amount has been raised the prizes then become available to win.

– 50/50 Split – The money raised is split between the beneficiary of the game and a 50/50 prize. Typically a 50/50 prize consists of a gift card valued at half of the amount of money raised up to a specified amount.

3. The Beneficiary or The Good Cause

This is the individual, group or organization the game is raising money for.

About Del Reid

Del Reid became a Bills fan shortly after coming into this world, having been raised in a home that actually had a framed picture of OJ Simpson on the wall in the living room (until it came down in 1994). Del has always had a passion for bringing people together to celebrate things they share in common. As a result, he (quite accidentally) ended up co-founding the #BillsMafia movement among Bills fans in social media -- which to this point is the coolest thing that has ever happened to him aside from his relationship with God, his wife, and his two awesome kids. Follow him on Twitter at @mrdeadlier.
